Gazelle wants to change the world – one cell phone, one laptop, one iPod at a time.

It is our purpose – and our promise – to provide a practical, rewarding way for people to finally rid themselves of all those old cell phones, digital cameras, and gaming systems that they no longer use, but can’t seem to find a way to let go of.

Too often when people think of recycling, they rush straight to smashing things into bits for parts. We believe that reuse should always come first. If your GPS unit still works, why not keep it in circulation AND get paid for it? If reusing isn’t in the cards, then let us recycle that vintage camcorder. We think of it as ReCommerce.

Yeah, we’re green.
Green for you with dollars in your pocket. Green for the environment with fewer electronics being trashed.

It’s good to Gazelle. That’s our promise.

Want to upgrade your iPhone to an iPhone 4.  Check out Gazelle for iPhone and see what you can get for your old iPhone to help pay for your new iPhone 4.

Gazelle also offers one of the best Fundraising ideas for electronics.

Is DVD ripping illegal?

The MPAA and most media companies argue that you can’t legally copy or convert commercial DVDs for any reason. We (and others) think that, if you own a DVD, you should be able to override its copy protection to make a backup copy or to convert its content for viewing on other devices. Currently, the law isn’t entirely clear one way or the other—Fair Use proponents claim you have the right to make a back-up copy of the media you own whereas those who support the Digital Millennium Copyright Act say that the DMCA overrides Fair Use. So our advice is: If you don’t own it, don’t do it. If you do own it, think before you rip. [read MacWorld]

Sunscreen is a pricey but necessary summertime expense. Save 50% or more with this sneaky shopping trick and put your money towards something fun.

Over at the financial and frugality blog Wisebread, they’re getting their sun protection on the cheap and you can too. Skip the sunscreen aisle and go right to the body lotions. Lotions with SPF protection are much cheaper than sunscreen. They write:

That’s literally all there is to it. The brand my friend turned me onto was Lubriderm. They make a general moisturizing lotion with an SPF of 15 […]. The price I paid at the nearest Super Target was roughly eight bucks for 16 ounces, versus the same price for 8 ounces of several brands in the sunscreen section.

If you’re going to be in and out of the water or you want a higher SPF than the basic SPF 15 you get from daily use lotions, then you’ll want to shell out for actual sunscreen. For general use around the yard and enjoying summer activities, however, lotions enhanced with basic sunscreen are an economical way to avoid burns. Have a tip or trick for staying sunburn free? Let’s hear about it in the comments. [via Lifehacker via Sunscreen Savings: How to Spend 50 Percent Less without Even Trying (Wisebread)]

What Twitter can’t seem to add is a bulk delete button for direct messages (DM).  With all the spammers hitting Twitter, this box can fill up fast.  In my attempt to find an answer I came across the great app that does just what I want it to do. DM Whacker.  Just drag the app into your browsers tool bar, open your twitter Direct Messages and click on the DM Whacker in the browser – ALL GONE.
