“We use social media but it’s not working”

I’ve written about churches and businesses who don’t want anything to do with social media either because of fear or don’t’ see the need.

There is another group out there and those are the ones that have incorporated some social media but it’s not working the way they thought it would.

Most often it’s the lack of updating. Remember that social media is “social”. You must engage your audience AND encourage them to engage with you. You may not have to post daily, but you should be posting more than once a week, or month, or quarterly, as I’ve seen many do.

Secondly, look at the quality of your posts. One of the complaints about social media, which I feel is valid, I really don’t care that you are going to pick up your laundry. Look at the content of your posts and ask yourself, “would I care?”.

Enjoy social media and don’t stress on it. It’s a conversation. If you can carry on a conversation you’re more than half way there.

If you are looking for help in creating quality content let me know.
