Pearl ePro LiveBeing a drummer I’m not a huge fan of electronic drums. I know a few people that swear by Roland’s v-drums but other than practicing at home, I’m not too into them either.  For live applications the still sound, look and feel like electronic drums.

This Pearl ePro Live set-up has some possibility though.  At least it’s worth taking a second look.  And, in the ‘looks’ department, at least they look like real acoustic drums.  They have shells and brass and if you don’t notice the cables and triggers on the cymbals, you wouldn’t know that they were electronic.

Sound – well that’s the real issue isn’t it.  At least at the NAMM Show 2010, they sounded fantastic.  But, buffered by all the other drum booth’s playing at the same time I couldn’t get an accurate read.  The dynamics were pretty amazing. I’ll go as far as saying that they are the best sounding electronic drums yet.

Here’s a short video that I shot with my little Kodak Zi6 HD Pocket Video Camera during a product demonstration at NAMM 2010.
